About the Firm

Vantage was founded by **Marcus Vandeveld** and **Priya Rao** after years inside engineering teams convinced them inventors deserved counsel who actually understood the technology. Marcus spent a decade as a semiconductor design engineer before law school. Priya built mobile platforms at two startups and clerked at the Federal Circuit. Together they've filed more than 900 patents and closed licensing deals across hardware, software, and biotech. The firm is deliberately small — five attorneys, every one a former engineer. Each matter is handled by a named partner from first disclosure to issued grant.

For most patent and trademark filings, yes — you get a clear flat fee up front. Portfolio strategy and licensing work are billed hourly, depending on scope.

How long does a patent take?

It depends on the technology and the examiner backlog, but most utility patents take two to three years to issue. We'll set a realistic timeline and keep you updated at every step.
