About Birch & Beam

Birch & Beam began in 2016 when **Nora Whitfield** — a cabinetmaker turned designer — set out to build a remodeling studio that treats homeowners like collaborators, not line items. Nine years later, our small in-house crew runs every kitchen and bath from first sketch to final reveal. No revolving subcontractors, no surprise change orders — just one team that knows your project from end to end. We take on a handful of remodels at a time on purpose. Fewer projects means more attention, cleaner job sites, and a finish you'll still love a decade from now.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes — the first design consult is on us. We visit your home, talk through goals and budget, and follow up with a written scope. Detailed design packages with renderings are a separate flat fee, credited toward your project if you build with us.

What areas do you serve?

We work throughout Portland and the close-in suburbs — Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Milwaukie, and the Hawthorne and Alberta neighborhoods. Projects beyond 20 miles are considered case by case.

How long does a remodel take?

Most bathrooms run four to six weeks; kitchens, eight to twelve. We give you a dated schedule before demo begins and a single project lead who keeps you posted every step.
