About me

I'm a licensed professional engineer with **fourteen years** of experience in residential and light-commercial structures. Before going independent, I spent time at **Magnusson Klemencic** (building structures group) and a regional **forensic engineering** firm. I'm based in Portland, Oregon, and licensed across the Pacific Northwest. I work best with builders and architects who care about getting it right but still have a deadline. Most of my projects run 1-3 weeks, though I keep a few slots open for firms that need ongoing engineering support. When I'm not at the drafting table, I'm usually rebuilding old timber furniture, hiking the Gorge, or over-engineering my garden shed.

Common questions

What does a typical project look like?
Most start with a short intro call or a set of photos and plans. From there I send a scope document with timeline, deliverables, and a fixed fee. If we're aligned, I can usually start within a week. I work in 1-3 week cycles with async updates and a stamped package at the end.
Do you draft the full plans or just the calcs?
Both, for structural scope. I deliver stamped calculations plus framing and detail sheets coordinated with the architect's drawings. I'm comfortable on a job site, and I'll stay available through plan review and construction so nothing gets lost in the field.
