Meet Dr. Okafor

Dr. **Amara Okafor** founded Harbor Endodontics in 2010 with a single focus: take the fear out of the words "root canal." She earned her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania and completed a two-year endodontic residency at Boston University. As a board-certified endodontist, she limits her practice entirely to saving teeth — root canals, retreatments, and microsurgery — so referring dentists know exactly who to trust. The practice has grown to include two associate endodontists and a dedicated patient-comfort team, but the philosophy hasn't changed: explain every step, work gently, and treat each referred patient the way we'd treat our own.

Common Questions

Do I need a referral to be seen?

Most of our patients are referred by their general dentist, but a referral isn't required. You're welcome to call us directly to schedule a consultation.

Is a root canal really painful?

Modern root canals are no more uncomfortable than a routine filling. With gentle anesthesia and sedation options, most patients are surprised by how easy it is.

What if I'm in severe pain right now?

Call us right away. We reserve time each day for emergencies and will do our best to relieve your pain within hours.
